Color Variations & Irregularities:
The colour in Indian cottons may not be perfectly even due to traditional dyeing and printing techniques, such as hand block printing or natural dye processes, which often result in slight variations. These irregularities are a hallmark of handcrafted textiles, reflecting the artisan's touch rather than machine precision. Environmental factors like temperature, humidity, and fabric absorption can also influence colour consistency, making each piece unique.
Fabric Width of Our Indian Cottons:
When planning your projects with our Indian Cotton, keep in mind they are mostly between 110 and 120 cm. The width is due to traditional handloom practices, where narrow looms were historically used to produce fabric for local garments like saris and kurtas that didn’t require wide widths. These looms are more affordable and easier to maintain, making them ideal for small-scale weavers. Hand-printing techniques like block printing also work best on narrower fabric, and global demand has long adapted to this standard. While wider widths are available from power looms, the 120 cm width remains common for its practicality and artisanal roots.
